Journal History

2006: Establishment and Early Focus
Epistemé: Jurnal Pengembangan Ilmu Keislaman was established in 2006 by the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung, which has now transitioned to Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung. As one of the earliest journal in Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung based on Islam and Muslim society studies, it aimed to enhance the visibility of knowledge production by Indonesia scholars with research interests in Islamic studies.

Transformation into an International Journal
Over the years, the journal evolved from a national to an international platform, inviting contributions and participation from both Indonesian and non-Indonesian experts. This transformation marked a significant shift towards a more global discourse on Islamic studies.

2018: Transition to English Language
In December 2018, the journal began publishing articles exclusively in English. This strategic move aimed to expand its readership and attract a broader range of contributors, thus increasing its international presence and impact.
