About the Journal

Kontemplasi : Jurnal Ilmu-Ilmu Ushuluddin, is a semi-annual publication and a double-blind reviewed academic journal published by the Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung . The journal was firstly published in 2016 and is one of the earliest Indonesian-based scientific journals on Islam and Muslim society studies. With its first publications, the journal strived to enhance the visibility of knowledge production by Indonesian scholars with research interests on Islamic studies. It later transformed into an international journal inviting Indonesian as well as non-Indonesian experts to contribute to the publication of the journal and to participate in the journal's editorial board.

Kontemplasi: Jurnal Ilmu-Ilmu Ushuluddin aims to strengthen a transdisciplinary perspective on issues related to Islam and Muslim societies. The journal provides an international scholarly forum for research and is committed to publishing scholarly works on classical and contemporary studies on Islam and Muslim societies. The journal focuses on topical issues and takes a transdisciplinary approach that benefits from a cross-cultural perspective. The published articles explore discussions of classical and contemporary Islamic studies from different socio-scientific approaches, such as anthropology, sociology, politics, international relations, ethnomusicology, arts, film studies, economics, human rights, law, diaspora, minority studies, demography, ethics, communication, education, philosophy, and philology. Studies grounded in empirical research and comparisons relevant to understanding broader intellectual, social, legal, and political developments in contemporary Muslim societies are the crucial scope of the journal.
