Allegations of Research Misconduct Policy

Al-Tadris: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab

Al-Tadris: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics. The journal takes allegations of research misconduct seriously and handles all reports fairly, confidentially, objectively, and in a timely manner.

1. Types of Research Misconduct

Research and publication misconduct may include, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism: Using another person's words, ideas, data, or work without appropriate acknowledgment.

  • Fabrication: Inventing data, results, or research information.

  • Falsification: Manipulating research materials, data, methods, or results in a way that misrepresents the research.

  • Duplicate or redundant publication: Publishing substantially overlapping work without appropriate disclosure or justification.

  • Authorship misconduct: Improperly assigning, omitting, or misrepresenting authorship.

  • Citation manipulation: Inappropriately manipulating citations to influence citation metrics or misrepresent scholarly sources.

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest: Failing to disclose relevant interests that may compromise the integrity of research or editorial decisions.

  • Other ethical violations: Conduct that undermines the reliability, transparency, or integrity of research and scholarly publication.

Honest errors, legitimate scholarly disagreements, or differences in interpretation do not automatically constitute research misconduct.

2. Reporting Allegations

Authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and other concerned parties may report suspected research misconduct to the journal's editorial office.

Reports should include a clear description of the alleged misconduct and, where available, supporting evidence such as relevant manuscript passages, publication links, research records, or other documentation.

Reports should be submitted through the journal's official contact channels. Anonymous reports may be considered when they contain sufficient information to permit an initial assessment.

3. Preliminary Assessment

Upon receiving a report, the editorial team will conduct a preliminary assessment to determine whether the allegation falls within the journal's responsibilities and whether sufficient information is available to proceed.

If necessary, the journal may request additional information from the complainant or seek advice from an independent expert.

4. Investigation and Right of Response

Where an allegation warrants further examination, the journal may review the relevant manuscript, published article, research data, editorial records, and other available evidence.

The author or other party concerned will normally be given an opportunity to respond to the allegation. The journal may consult independent experts or contact the author's affiliated institution when appropriate.

The journal will not treat an allegation as established misconduct solely because a complaint has been submitted.

5. Confidentiality and Fair Treatment

All allegations will be handled with appropriate confidentiality and impartiality. Information will be shared only with individuals who need it for assessment, investigation, or resolution, subject to applicable legal and ethical obligations.

The journal will seek to protect the identities and legitimate interests of complainants and individuals accused of misconduct. All parties are expected to cooperate with the process and avoid making unsupported public accusations.

6. Editorial Actions

Depending on the nature, seriousness, and available evidence, possible actions may include:

  • Requesting clarification or additional documentation.

  • Requiring corrections or revisions before publication.

  • Rejecting a manuscript when ethical or research-integrity concerns cannot be satisfactorily resolved.

  • Publishing a correction, expression of concern, or retraction for an article already published, when justified.

  • Referring the matter to the relevant institution or other appropriate authority.

  • Taking other proportionate actions consistent with publication ethics and applicable policies.

Any action involving a published article will be based on the available evidence and the need to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

7. Appeals and Further Information

A person directly affected by an editorial decision relating to an allegation may submit a reasoned appeal with relevant supporting information. The journal will consider the appeal fairly and may seek an independent assessment where appropriate.

For matters requiring formal institutional investigation, the journal may refer the case to the relevant institution while taking any necessary steps to protect the scholarly record.

8. Record Keeping and Policy Review

The journal will maintain appropriate records of reported allegations, assessments, correspondence, and decisions, subject to confidentiality and applicable data-protection requirements.

This policy will be applied consistently with the journal's publication ethics policy and recognized principles of research integrity. The journal may update this policy as publication ethics standards evolve.
