Correction and Retraction Policy

Al-Tadris: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab

Al-Tadris: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors or concerns may arise after an article has been published and provides procedures for correcting the publication record or retracting articles when necessary.

1. Corrections

A correction may be issued when an error is identified in a published article and the error can be addressed without invalidating the principal findings or conclusions of the work.

Examples include errors in author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, tables, figures, references, or other published information that require formal correction.

Requests for correction may be submitted by authors, readers, editors, or other concerned parties. The editorial team will assess the nature and significance of the error and determine whether a formal correction notice is necessary.

Published correction notices will clearly identify the affected article, describe the correction, and provide a link to the original publication.

2. Retractions

Retraction may be considered when serious concerns undermine the reliability, integrity, or ethical acceptability of a published article.

Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data.

  • Substantial plagiarism or inappropriate duplication of published work.

  • Unreliable findings resulting from serious errors or research misconduct.

  • Serious violations of research ethics or publication ethics.

  • Improper publication practices that materially compromise the integrity of the scholarly record.

Retraction decisions will be based on an assessment of the available evidence. The journal will consider explanations from the authors and, when appropriate, consult independent experts or the relevant institution.

Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record and does not necessarily imply that every author was responsible for the problem.

3. Expression of Concern

When credible concerns arise about a published article but an investigation remains incomplete, the journal may issue an expression of concern.

This notice informs readers that the reliability or ethical status of an article is under examination. The journal may update the notice or take further action when sufficient information becomes available.

4. Reporting Errors or Concerns

Authors, readers, reviewers, editors, institutions, and other interested parties may report suspected errors or publication-integrity concerns to the editorial office.

Reports should identify the article concerned and provide a clear explanation of the issue, together with relevant evidence where available. The journal will assess each report fairly and confidentially.

5. Editorial Assessment and Decision

The editorial team will evaluate the available evidence, the nature and seriousness of the concern, its effect on the article's reliability, and any relevant ethical considerations.

The journal may request clarification from the authors, consult independent experts, or contact the authors' affiliated institutions when necessary.

The final action will be proportionate to the findings and consistent with recognized publication ethics principles.

6. Publication and Preservation of the Scholarly Record

When a correction, retraction, or expression of concern is issued, the journal will provide a clear notice explaining the reason for the action and linking the notice to the original article.

Retracted articles will generally remain accessible for the purposes of the scholarly record, but their retracted status must be clearly indicated. The journal will not remove a published article solely to conceal an error or misconduct concern, except where removal is required by applicable law or exceptional circumstances.

Where applicable, the journal will maintain the relationship between the original article, the correction or retraction notice, and their associated identifiers, including DOIs.

7. Transparency and Fair Treatment

All decisions will be made objectively and documented appropriately. Authors will normally be given an opportunity to respond to concerns before a final decision is made, subject to circumstances requiring urgent action to protect readers or the scholarly record.

The journal will handle corrections and retractions consistently with its publication ethics, research misconduct, and post-publication discussion policies.

This policy applies to all articles published in Al-Tadris: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Arab
