Author Guidelines and Authorship Criteria

Author Guidelines

The editors of Jurnal Bahasa Lingua Scientia (JBLS) welcome authors to submit articles written in English in accordance with the following guidelines: 

  1. Articles should be original, unpublished and not under review for possible publication in other journals. 
  2. The title of the article should be straightforward, informative and no more than 12 words.
  3. The abstract should be clear and concise (no more than 350 words) and written in one paragraph by using English.
  4. Keywords should be consistent and reveal important concepts in the article.
  5. Manuscript should be typed in MS Word doc. format, using 12 points Times New Roman fonts, no space inter-paragraph, on quarto or A4-size paper, 15-20 pages in length (no more than 7,000 words).
  6. Must use reference manager software such as Zotero or Mendeley.
  7. Submissions should be prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines and Article Template. 
  8. Article Structure in general should cover: (a) Title; (b) full name(s), affiliation(s), and e- mail of author(s); (c) Abstract, (d) Keywords, (e) Introduction, (f) Method, (g) Findings, (h) Discussion, (i) Conclusion, (j) Declaration of AI Use, (k) References.
  9. Bibliographical reference must be noted in body note and bibliography according to APA Style.
  10. Authors whose manuscripts are accepted or rejected will get a notification from editorial board. Editorial board has an authority to return the rejected articles without asserting the causes.
  11. Authors must submit a Turnitin similarity report along with their manuscript, and a report from an AI-detection tool (e.g., GPTZero, Originality.ai, or equivalent).
  12. We will reject a manuscript without review if the Turnitin report results is more than 20% of similarity index, it exceeds our word limit or is incorrectly formatted; it is poorly presented and unclear, and if there are substantive issues with the design, methodology, or data quality.
  13. Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to a subject expert from the Editorial Board to oversee the review process. The manuscripts are then forwarded to a double-blind peer review process. Throughout the review process, the identities of both the author(s) and reviewer(s) are concealed to ensure objectivity and impartiality. The review process typically takes approximately 2–4 months, depending on reviewer availability and the extent of revisions required. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editors will make one of the following decisions: decline submission, accept submission, or revisions required. Please note that a decision of revisions required does not guarantee acceptance. Authors are required to provide a point-by-point response explaining how each comment has been addressed in the revised manuscript. Revised manuscripts may undergo further peer review, and more than one round of revision may be necessary. The final acceptance decision will be made once all required revisions have been satisfactorily completed.
  14. The editorial board is permitted to edit the accepted manuscripts to ensure the paper fully matches our criteria without changing the essence. After final checking in the editorial office, acceptance is confirmed and the paper is forwarded to the publishers for publication.
  15. The citation and references should be presented alphabetically and chronologically, and be written in accordance with the APA style as follow:

Authorship Criteria

Jurnal Bahasa Lingua Scientia (JBLS) recognizes authorship based on substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or development of the manuscript. All authors must participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it, approve the final version for publication, and agree to be accountable for the accuracy and integrity of the work. Individuals who do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged appropriately rather than listed as authors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors, that author order is agreed upon by all authors, and that all authors approve the manuscript before submission. Any changes to authorship after submission must be justified and approved by all authors, subject to the journal's editorial approval.
