Peer Review
Journal Bahasa Lingua Scientia (JBLS) is committed to publishing high-quality scholarly work in the fields of language, linguistics, and language teaching by implementing a peer review process. Our editorial and review workflow consists of the following stages:
- Preliminary Screening. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief. This includes checking; alignment with JBLS’s focus and scope compliance with submission guidelines, originality and plagiarism screening and ethical research standards. Articles that do not meet these basic requirements or fall outside the journal’s scope are rejected at this stage.
- Reviewer Assignment. Articles that pass the preliminary screening are assigned to qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. The editor initiates peer review process by forwarding the anonymized manuscript to the selected reviewers.
- Peer Review. During this stage, reviewers assess the manuscript based on theoretical and scholarly contribution, research methodology and data quality, and accuracy and reliability of findings. Reviewers then submit their recommendations to the editor.
- Initial Decision. Based on reviewers’ reports, the editor makes an initial decision; Accept as is, Minor revisions required. Major revisions required or Reject. If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the author along with anonymous reviewer comments and editorial feedback.
- Revision Process. Authors are given up to 2-4 weeks to complete revisions. After resubmission, the editor reviews the updated manuscript to ensure that: all reviewer comments have been addressed, revisions are adequate and appropriate. If necessary, the editor may request additional revisions. This process may be repeated until the manuscript satisfies editorial requirements.
- Final Decision. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final determination to accept or reject the revised manuscript based on its quality, clarity, and contribution to the field.
- Language Editing. Once accepted, the manuscript is returned to the authors for content editing. This stage ensures improved readability and coherence without altering the substance of the article.
- Publication. The accepted article is scheduled for publication in the upcoming issue of JBLS. The editorial team arranges the order and presentation of articles within each edition.
