Publication Ethics

Ar Rehla: Journal of Islamic Tourism, Halal Food, Islamic Traveling, and Creative Economy is committed to maintaining academic integrity, honesty, fairness, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing. This policy establishes the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher to ensure the credibility and integrity of published research.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, accurate, and based on research conducted ethically and responsibly.

Authors must:

  1. Present research methods, data, findings, and conclusions honestly and accurately, without fabrication, falsification, or misleading manipulation.

  2. Properly acknowledge the ideas, findings, data, and intellectual contributions of others through appropriate citations.

  3. Ensure that submitted manuscripts have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.

  4. Respect the rights, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of research participants, including obtaining informed consent and ethical approval where required.

  5. Disclose relevant funding sources and potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation.

  6. Promptly notify the editorial team of significant errors discovered in submitted or published work and cooperate in resolving them.

Detailed provisions concerning originality and plagiarism are available in the Plagiarism Policy.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, and independently.

Editors must make decisions based on academic merit, originality, methodological quality, and scholarly contribution without discrimination or inappropriate external influence.

Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, protect unpublished research information, manage potential conflicts of interest, and prevent the misuse of privileged editorial materials.

Editors are also responsible for selecting qualified and independent reviewers, ensuring appropriate editorial communication, and addressing credible concerns about research or publication integrity.

Detailed editorial procedures are available in the Peer Review Process.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are responsible for providing independent, objective, constructive, and academically justified evaluations of assigned manuscripts.

Reviewers must:

  1. Accept review assignments only when they possess relevant expertise and can complete the evaluation within the agreed period.

  2. Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts, unpublished findings, and editorial communications.

  3. Evaluate scholarly content objectively, without personal criticism, prejudice, or inappropriate influence.

  4. Disclose potential conflicts of interest and decline assignments when impartiality may be compromised.

  5. Inform the editor of suspected plagiarism, data irregularities, substantial publication overlap, or other ethical concerns.

  6. Refrain from using unpublished research materials or confidential information for personal or professional advantage.

4. Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher is responsible for supporting ethical, transparent, and accountable scholarly publishing practices.

The publisher must safeguard editorial independence, provide appropriate institutional and operational support, and cooperate with the editorial team in addressing publication ethics concerns.

Institutional, financial, or other external interests must not interfere with independent editorial judgments or compromise the integrity of scholarly publications.

5. Handling Publication Ethics Violations

Ar Rehla does not tolerate research or publication misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate publication, authorship manipulation, citation manipulation, peer-review manipulation, and other practices that compromise academic integrity.

Suspected violations will be assessed objectively, fairly, and confidentially, with due consideration of the available evidence and an appropriate opportunity for the parties concerned to respond.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the findings, the journal may request clarification or corrections, suspend manuscript processing, reject submissions, notify relevant institutions, or take appropriate post-publication action.

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other concerned parties may report suspected ethical violations through the Journal Contact page.

All parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold these ethical responsibilities and cooperate in maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
